Veterans’ Services

Lake Area Technical Institute thanks all veterans for their service to our country. LATI is committed to providing veterans access to and success in post-secondary technical education. We offer veterans and their families a variety of on-campus services and benefits including:

  • On-campus point of contact for GoArmyEd, SD National Guard, and SD Air National Guard
  • Army Continuing Education (ACE) guidance for awarding CLEP and DSST
  • On-campus VA certifying official
  • Waive the application fee for veterans
  • Veteran Officer from SD DLR housed on campus
  • Employment services
  • Veteran recognition events, including Constitution Day event
  • Veteran Opps Lounge in our Student Center
  • Veteran activities throughout the year
  • Military Scholarships
  • Counseling Services - Lake Area Tech’s on-campus counselor, Megan Howard, is trained in counseling for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and has obtained certification as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She has also earned the Veterans Behavioral Health Certificate and the ISTSS Advanced Training in Traumatic Stress Certificate. Her professional memberships include the International Association of Trauma Professionals.

 

Lake Area Technical Institute (LATI) has received the designation of a Military Friendly School in 2012, 2013, and 2014. The Military Friendly Schools ® list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.
