Lake area technical institute Practical Nursing E-Degree in partnership with elgss

Considering the critical nursing shortage in long-term care centers, Lake Area Technical Institute with the help of a grant from the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society (ELGSS), developed an online practical nursing program available for ELGSS employees. The career lattice program was developed to assist currently employed Certified Nursing Assistants and other staff members who demonstrate interest in pursuing nursing as a career. The Online Program is a result of the combined efforts of LATI and ELGSS to alleviate the shortage of LPNs in their care centers. The Online Program assists ELGSS in retaining valuable employees as well as promoting educational opportunities for personal and professional development.

Nursing courses are delivered to students via the Internet with clinical learning experiences conducted with student groups in Watertown, SD.

Upon completion of the general and required support courses and the clinical nursing courses that total 48.5 credit hours, students are awarded a Diploma Degree in Practical Nursing from Lake Area Technical Institute.
