WATERTOWN – Nearly 400 Lake Area Tech Agriculture and Diesel students are reaping the benefits of a generous donation by Case IH and Titan Machinery of a 300 Magnum Case IH tractor. Case IH and Titan Machinery representatives visited campus this month to commemorate the contribution.
“Lake Area Technical College is one of just three recipients (of the tractor donation) across the country, thanks to the positive relationship the companies have had with the school for years,” Justin Berry of Titan Machinery commented. “We hope to continue the strong partnership for many years to come.”
Agriculture and Diesel students alike will utilize the tractor both on the Lake Area Technical College demonstration farm and in the Diesel shop. “Our Ag students will get hands-on tractor training with precision technology practices and with field operations during planting and harvest seasons,” Darrel Woolery, Lake Area Technical College Ag instructor said. “Our Diesel students will also benefit by completing general maintenance techniques to keep it in top running order and by working with the latest in ag equipment technology.”
The tractor, valued at more than $97,000, is an example of how Lake Area Technical College and its business partners work together. “We couldn’t continue to graduate top-notch students without the generous support of partners like Case IH and Titan Machinery that recognize the importance of the hands-on training we do here every day,” Brian Olson, Lake Area Technical College Ag Program Supervisor said. “Our students are working with the latest ag equipment here thanks to donations like this. We know our students will make seamless transitions from school to successful careers because of it.”
