Car Club Prepares For 8th Annual Car Show For A Cause
WATERTOWN, SD – The Lake Area Technical College Car Club will be hosting its eighth annual Car Show for a Cause on April 27, 2013. The car show and all events will be held in the Lake Area Technical College Automotive Technology building and will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The car show entry fee is $7.00 with registration from 10-11 a.m.
Show classes will include Antique, All Street and Rat Rods, Muscle Cars, Power Sports/Bikes, Sport Compact, Truck, and Special Interest. Other events running throughout the day will include a dunk tank, 50/50 drawing and bass comp. The Bass Competition is the third annual and will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. with awards to follow. Synergy’s owners and employees and LATI Automotive graduates donate their time and equipment for this competition that tests how loud each vehicle’s sound system is via cabin pressure.
Funds raised from the show have been designated each year to a cause selected by the students. Over the years, many organizations have been the recipient of a considerable cash donation from the students’ fundraisers. Last year, the students chose to donate the proceeds to Make-A-Wish South Dakota to which the local chapter received $1192.57. For the 2013 event, the Car Club members have again designated the proceeds to benefit Make-A-Wish South Dakota.
Admission for the public is $1 and concessions will be available. To register for the Car Show, contact Lake Area Technical College Automotive Tech instructor Bob Scherbenske at 605.882.5284 ext. 451 or email at scherbeb@lakeareatech.edu.
