Job Summary

This position assists physicians by performing direct and indirect patient care as delegated by the physicians and within the scope of practice of the Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities include:

Provides direct and indirect care to patients utilizing the nursing process in providing patient care.
Applies nursing process, critical thinking and judgment to clinical process.
Performs secretarial duties: answering phones, placing calls, scheduling, order entry, and obtaining old records.
Prepares patient chart for upcoming visit to ensure all results are available for provider to include utilizing electronic chart history.
Assists with cleaning of patient treatment areas.
Restocks and orders supplies for patient treatment areas, kitchenettes, nursing station, and supply carts.
Triages patient telephone calls for medical providers. Reports information to Medical Provider and directs patients as orders are received.
Transports patients to appropriate areas.
Keeps patient treatment areas, kitchenette, storage areas, and nursing station in order.
Coordinates and assists with discharge instructions, follow-up care, diagnostic testing, procedures, and medication instructions.
Performs insurance Prior Authorizations.
Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Medical assisting degree and CMA certification required.

Mandatory Basic and Advanced Life Support Training per policy.

Microsoft Office applications and applicable EMR.
