Jennifer joined the Lake Area Tech Team as the Grants & Compliance Manager in August 2021. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism & Mass Communications and her Master’s degree in Mass Communication from South Dakota State University.  She has nearly 25 years’ experience in Marketing Communications, primarily serving non-profit organizations. Her previous roles include: Persona, Director of Marketing, 2020-2021; Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities, Director of Marketing & Brand Management, 2018-2020; Ecumen, Director of Corporate Communications, 2011-2018; Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director, 2005-2010; and Buena Vista University, Director of Web & New Media Development, 1997-2002. Jennifer and her husband, Ray Hirte, recently moved back to South Dakota and now reside in Clark. Her husband is a native of the Twin Cities, where Jennifer lived for 20 years. Ray is retired from Hennepin County (Minneapolis) after 34 years as an IT Manager and ERP Program Manager. He’s now an IT consultant. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and competitive BBQ. Jennifer and her husband own a BBQ food truck and are a competitive KCBS BBQ team.
