Jerry Kastein

Jerry joined the Lake Area Tech team in January 2024 as an adjunct Law Enforcement instructor. He is a graduate of Hamlin High School. He obtained an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement from Central Texas College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Grantham University. Jerry’s experience includes eight years in the U.S. Army, 14 years in Law Enforcement including 12 years as a South Dakota State Trooper, two years as a supervisor, nine plus years as a SWAT operator, and three years as an Assistant Lead Firearms instructor for the agency. He is Force Science certified, a de-escalation instructor, a field training officer, and an ALICE instructor. Jerry was named the 2017 State Trooper of the Year. He is married with four children. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, working out, travelling, and spending time with his family.
