HEERF III – American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) is authorized by the American Rescue Plan (ARP), Public Law 117-2, signed into law on March 11, 2021, providing $39.6 billion in support to institutions of higher education to serve students and ensure learning continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding comes with a new formula requiring approximately half of the funding to be used by each institution to provide direct relief to students. Lake Area Technical College was allocated a total of $5,045,591 under Section 18004(a)(1). Pursuant to the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students, $2,588,630 will be distributed directly to eligible students. The Certification and Agreement for the Institutional Portion states that the remaining funds may be used to cover institutional costs associated with coronavirus, among other things, support vulnerable students, monitor and suppress the coronavirus, and reengage students whose education was disrupted by the pandemic.

Lake Area Technical College disbursed $885,925 of HEERF II funds directly to students on February 23, 2021 to eligible students. The institution may use the supplemental institutional portion funds ($2,059,343) to defray expenses associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
