WATERTOWN, SD – Lake Area Technical College (LATC) announced today that Horton, Inc., a global leader in thermal control for power systems and long-time partner of the college, recently provided funding for a new Haas CNC Mill and Robot for the Precision Machining program and a contribution toward the campus improvement endowment.
“Horton is excited to partner with Lake Area Tech and provide equipment that will help prepare students as they earn their manufacturing degrees,” said Vice Chairman & Corporate Secretary Terry Gilberstadt. “We are so lucky to have such a great educational institution in South Dakota.”
Horton is committed to helping advance technical education and addressing equipment needs at Lake Area Tech. Their contribution enables the LATC Precision Machining program to incorporate cutting-edge technology. Horton’s support at the Cornerstone partnership level indicates a contribution of $500,000 and above.
“Horton has been a long-time partner of Lake Area Tech and we commend them for taking this step forward as a Cornerstone Partner,” said LATC President Tiffany Sanderson. “Several dozen LATC alumni contribute to Horton’s successes today; this latest investment ensures those opportunities will continue and will grow for many more years.”
The LATC Precision Machining program is overseen by an advisory board, which consists of regional leaders in the machining and manufacturing industries. According to the most recent placement survey, graduates of the Precision Machining program are earning an average of $28.08 per hour, just six months following graduation.
