Position Purpose:
This is a temporary position that provides general labor assistance at the Groton Generation Station.
Essential Functions:
Perform general laborer work, clean-up, and upkeep around the plant site which includes: washing floors, windows, bathrooms and vehicles; hauling garbage; mowing and watering grounds; fence repair; shoveling snow; moving materials when assigned.
Perform routine recordkeeping and report equipment problems by completing work requests as required. Assist other groups as needed.
Check fluid levels, lubricate, and maintain fuel levels on all equipment operated. Report all equipment problems to the supervisor as required.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Grammatical skills.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED).
Enrollment as a full-time student in a post-secondary degree is preferred.
A valid driver’s license.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires constant standing/walking; frequent lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds; and occasional use of keyboard/computer, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 60 pounds, sitting, bending/reaching, and climbing. This position may also be exposed to heat/cold, dirt/dust, chemicals, and noise. The incumbent may be required to work in confined areas. The incumbent must have the ability to read, comprehend, and follow written/verbal instructions. This position is assigned to work both indoors and outdoors. The ability to operate a motor vehicle is required. This position may have to work various hours due to different schedules. The incumbent may operate any of the following: forklift, skid steer loader, trucks, lawn mower, snow blower, bridge crane, farm tractors up to 180 horsepower, and small hand tools and equipment.
Wage: $18 per hour
