2025 Tax Season Student/Internship
Located in Watertown, SD, Ledgers provides a wide range of services to support clients with their accounting, tax and general financial operations. The Tax Season Student/Internship role provides essential administrative support to the tax and administration departments during the busy tax season. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional office setting, assisting with scheduling meetings, organizing and maintaining files and supporting the tax and administrative teams with various Tax Season tasks. The student/intern will also gain valuable insight into the tax preparation process and the inner workings of a tax department during its peak season.
Responsibilities:
• Perform reception duties including greeting clients to the office and connecting them to appropriate staff.
• Perform general administrative duties such as answering phone calls, sorting mail, managing office supplies, and assisting with the organization of the office during high-volume periods.
• Help manage client communications by responding to inquiries, scheduling meetings, and sending reminders for document submissions. Assist in following up with clients regarding missing or incomplete documentation.
• Assist with organizing, scanning, and filing client tax documents (digital and physical). Ensure all documents are properly categorized, stored, and ready for processing by tax preparers.
• Assist staff with operational, clerical and administrative duties.
• Display sensitivity to client confidentiality and privacy.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Quickbooks experience preferred.
• Ability to maintain discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Eagerness to learn about tax preparation processes and the tax industry.
• Prior office or administrative experience is a plus, but not required.
• Availability to work during peak tax season (typically January through April) including extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to support the team during busy filing deadlines and to meet client needs.
• Acceptable background check.
