Lake Area Tech Esports Teams Gear Up for Crucial Matches in High-Stakes Season Showdowns
October 28, 2024
The Lake Area Technical College Siege team is set to return to action this Friday after a two-week break. The team will face off against Walters State Community College from Morristown, Tennessee, at 7 p.m. Fans are welcome to watch the live stream on Twitch or join in person at the Lake Area Tech campus. Coach LeBlanc shared that the team is eager to get back into the game, having had a bye in week three and a forfeit win over Murray State.
Last week’s conference matches saw some intense competition: Bevill State Community College forfeited to Laredo College, handing Laredo their first win of the season, while Northwest College defeated State Tech College, giving them their first loss. With Laredo College, State Tech College, Bevill State, and Lake Area Tech all carrying one loss each, the standings remain extremely close. “Heading into November, every game will be critical to our ranking,” said Coach LeBlanc. “We’re focused on refining our strategy and skills to stay competitive in this tightly contested season.”
In other esports news, Lake Area Tech’s Super Smash Brothers player, Gabe Gebhard, will compete in a doubleheader on Tuesday, October 28. Gabe faces Laramie County Community College at 7 p.m., followed by a match against Eastern Arizona at 8 p.m. Currently ranked 9th with a 3-5 record, Gabe has an excellent opportunity to climb in the standings with wins over Laramie, ranked 7th, and Eastern Arizona, ranked 8th. “We’ve been working hard on a few techniques and feel confident heading into these matches,” Coach LeBlanc noted.
