Lake Area Tech Esports Teams Gear Up for Key Matches as Siege Advances to 3-1 Record Following Forfeit
October 21, 2024
The Lake Area Technical College Esports Siege team is set to take another break this week, coming off their bye, but there’s already been some unexpected news! Murray State, based in Murray, Kentucky, has officially forfeited their season, though the exact reasons remain undisclosed. This decision catapults the Siege team to an impressive 3-1 record as they prepare for their next showdown against Walters State College from Morristown, Tennessee. Mark your calendars for November 1st at 7 PM Central Time, as the match will be streamed live on Twitch. Fans also have the option to join the excitement in person at the Esports room on Lake Area Tech’s campus.
Meanwhile, the Lake Area Tech Super Smash Brothers team, led by first-year OTA student Gabe Gebhard, will be in action this Tuesday, October 22nd. The team is scheduled for a thrilling double-header: first facing Salt Lake City Community College at 7 PM, followed by a match against Umpqua Community College from Roseburg, Oregon, at 8 PM.
Last week, Gabe battled hard in another double-header, splitting the results. The team took a tough 3-0 loss against Southeast Community College, whose player from Lincoln, Nebraska, is one of the top contenders in the division. “We knew it would be a tall task to pull off a victory,” said Coach LeBlanc. Gabe echoed this, noting that the opponent’s impressive range made shielding a crucial strategy.
In a surprising turn of events, the scheduled 8 PM match against Eastern Arizona College didn’t take place, as their player forfeited due to illness. With a current record of 2-4, the Super Smash Brothers team is keeping their playoff hopes alive as the season nears its end.
All matches are live-streamed on Twitch, so be sure to tune in and support Lake Area Tech Esports from wherever you are!
