LAKE AREA TECH EXPERIENCES RECORD GROWTH IN SPRING ENROLLMENT
WATERTOWN, SD – Lake Area Technical College announces that spring enrollment has increased 3.7% over the previous year. Currently, 1473 students are enrolled including 244 new students who started spring semester January 7, 2013. The overall combined numbers of fall and spring semester, along with the upcoming summer session, should put Lake Area Technical College near 1800 total students for the 2012-13 year.
Lake Area Technical College President Deb Shephard comments, “With a rebounding economy and the fact that not all of our programs start new classes in January, our spring semester numbers were excellent. Our demographic information tells us that the majority of students who chose Lake Area Technical College this spring have elected to re-career or have transferred from other colleges. In addition, we are seeing a large growth in students who are enrolling in our online degrees.” Over 10% of the newly enrolled for the spring semester are online hybrid (virtual labs and weekends on campus) students. The 12 Lake Area Technical College E-Degrees make getting a technical degree possible for people who currently have jobs but want to improve their earning potential.
Shephard continues, “Lake Area Technical College has been privileged to experience the continued growth of the College and the overwhelming success of its graduates. Our success can be attributed to our exceptional staff, the great partnerships we have with business and industry, and the strong community support.”
