WATERTOWN, SD – Lake Area Technical College’s Practical Nursing program has earned a place on the 2017 Nurse Journal’s list of America’s Best Nursing Schools. The results were recently released in an analysis of more than 750 nursing schools in the Central United States. LATI’s Nursing Program is the only nursing program in South Dakota to receive this honor.
To determine which nursing schools earned top honors, the analysis considered 20 metrics that were sorted into five categories: quality, affordability, convenience, satisfaction, and value.
Lake Area Technical College Practical Nursing Program Supervisor Patty Foley commented, “This acknowledgement is a nice testament of the quality, value and satisfaction of LATI and reaffirms that what we do in our nursing program every day is in alignment with what they recognized as important in nursing programs across the nation.”
Lake Area Technical College offers three Practical Nursing options including:
- a full-time, on-campus option (lasting 11 months, and begins each fall);
- a full-time, online hybrid option completed mostly online, but with some travel to campus for clinicals, labs, and simulation (lasting 11 months, and begins each fall); and
- a part-time, online hybrid option (lasting 22 months, and begins each January).
The 11-month Practical Nursing program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
The mission at NurseJournal.org is to create a social community for nurses around the world in which to educate, inform and share.
