Lake Area Technical College Student Selected for Networking Academy Dream Team

WATERTOWN, SD – Ryen Lindner, a Computer Information Systems student at Lake Area Technical College, has been selected for the 2018 Cisco Live Networking Academy Dream Team. Lindner is one of 10 students selected from nearly 70 applicants across the United States and Canada. The team members will represent their respective schools at Cisco Live being held in Orlando, FL, this June. At the event, the Cisco Live Dream Team will have a unique development opportunity to work hands-on with industry leaders to deploy and support the Network Operations Center at the Cisco Live conference. The Dream Team students will be assisting in setting up the networking infrastructure for the conference.
At Cisco Live, career development activities for team members include:
- Exposure and recognition among potential employers and Cisco leaders
- Hands-on experience working with Cisco engineers
- Full access to event sessions, keynotes, and customer appreciation events
- Opportunity to take a Cisco certification exam of their choice while onsite
Lindner was nominated by LATI Computer Information Systems Department Supervisor Terri Carson. A father of two, he also interns at Lake Area Technical College’s I.T. department, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He served in the Army National Guard and has held a top security clearance.
Dream Team selection criteria includes demonstrated technical and professional skills, instructor/employer recommendations, notable extra-curricular activities outside the classroom, geographic representation, and diversity of skills and backgrounds. The 2018 Dream Team is comprised of 10 academy students, two academy instructor mentors, plus a returning Dream Team student as Team Captain.
