Lake Area Tech Students Place at State SkillsUSA Competition

WATERTOWN, SD – Students from the Lake Area Technical College SkillsUSA Chapter recently competed in the South Dakota State Leadership and Skills Conference competition held on the campus of Western Dakota Technical College in Rapid City, SD. Congratulations to the following Lake Area Tech students who placed in their respective categories:
Gold – First Place
Keaton Laible (Marion, SD) Auto Refinishing; Josh Lechner (Aberdeen, SD) Collision Repair; Cade Nofziger (Sioux Falls, SD) Auto Service; and Shabri Sylvester (Custer, SD) Welding Sculpture
Silver – Second Place
Cody Simon (Gettysburg, SD), Diesel Equipment Technology and Joseph Throener (Cogswell, ND) Welding Sculpture
Bronze – Third Place
Andrew Eiesland (Sioux Falls, SD) Diesel Equipment Technology; Jackson Jones (Sioux Falls, SD) Collision Repair; Isaac Lehman (Pierre, SD) Welding Individual, and Tate Flaskey (Trent, SD), Jaden Gorres (Granite Falls, MN) and Corey Resel (Miller, SD) for Welding Team
All first-place recipients are eligible to advance to the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference June 20-24 in Atlanta, Georgia, where more than 6,500 career and technical education students will compete. SkillsUSA is a national organization that serves trade, industrial, technical, and health occupations students in high schools and postsecondary technical colleges.
