Technical Colleges to Continue Online Classes for the Remainder of the Semester
March 25, 2020
PIERRE, S.D. – As the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in South Dakota increases, the state’s four technical colleges will continue to provide course delivery online through the remainder of the semester.
With only weeks remaining in the semester, the institutions will build on the extensive hands-on experience our students already possess. Our faculty and staff will rely on simulation software, online lectures, video demonstrations, and other virtual tools.
To align with guidance from Governor Noem, all four campuses will continue to be closed to the public through at least Friday, May 1, 2020.
The graduation ceremonies at all four institutions will be adjusted, with further details shared as decisions are finalized.
“This is an unprecedented time and our top priority as a system is the health and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and communities,” noted Dana Dykhouse, Chairman of the South Dakota Board of Technical Education.
Individual institutions will continue sending pertinent information directly to their students, faculty, and staff. Please refer to their news releases and websites for additional details.
The measure impacts Lake Area Technical College (Watertown), Mitchell Technical College (Mitchell), Southeast Technical College (Sioux Falls), and Western Dakota Technical College (Rapid City).
