Victoria Schroeder – Alumni Profile

Victoria Schroeder – Brandon, SD
Marketing, Management & Sales – Class of 2000
Why did you choose Lake Area Tech? I had heard so many great things about Lake Area over the years as well as from others that were currently attending. The Marketing, Management and Sales program was a great fit for my future plans and goals. Also, my mom attended Lake Area Tech and was part of the first graduating LPN class!
Where are you employed today? Dog Days Hotel and Day Camp
When was the last time you visited Lake Area Tech? 2015
What was your favorite thing about Lake Area Tech? I loved the people and my program instructors! Everyone was great and helpful and it was very obvious that the instructors wanted to see each and every student succeed. The way the program was designed provided so much valuable information.
What was the biggest lesson you learned at Lake Area Tech? The biggest lesson I learned from attending Lake Area Tech is to listen to your instincts. I looked at several programs at Lake Area Tech and landed on Marketing, Management and Sales. I had a feeling this program would benefit me the most and it was the right choice. I really took a lot of useful information away from Lake Area Tech and the program that I still use today.
What made you want to continue your education? I knew I wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps and become an entrepreneur so I need to gain the knowledge and skills to make that happen.
What advice would you give a current Lake Area Tech student? I know it’s cliché, but this really is the best time of your life. Have fun, but when it’s time to focus on school, be sure you are 100% focused. The information and knowledge you will obtain from Lake Area Tech will be extremely valuable to you.
What makes you proud to be an Alumni of Lake Area Tech? Lake Area Tech has such an amazing reputation and is always growing to meet the needs of the changing world. It’s so much bigger than when I attended school there. I’m so proud to say I am an Alumni of Lake Area Tech.
What advice can you give to Lake Area Tech students that will be entering the workforce? My advice for graduating students is to be patient. I knew I wanted to be my own boss, but didn’t know how that looked for me until after a few years of carrier trials and errors. It also took time to gain the confidence, financial backing and knowledge to be able to dive into opening my own business. Your opportunity is out there. It may not present itself immediately, but you will find it.
